Dr. Hal Cameron, a board certified ophthalmologist, was born and raised in central North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill earning his undergraduate degree in chemistry before attending the UNC School of Medicine. After his internship at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, Canada, he practiced four years in family practice and emergency room work, including 2 years in the U.S. Public Health Service, before returning to London, Ontario, for his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Western Ontario. After the completion of his residency he underwent an additional year of fellowship training in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
Prior to joining Coastal Eye Clinic in 1987, Dr. Cameron practiced ophthalmology in Kauai, Hawaii; Yakima, Washington; and Cottonwood, Arizona.
Dr. Harold Cameron’s practice is primarily comprehensive ophthalmology including small incision cataract surgery, medical and laser treatment of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and routine eye care including contact lens evaluation and fitting in addition to his interest in Neuro-Ophthalmology.
His interests outside of medicine include golf, bluegrass banjo and wood carving. He is married and has two adult sons.
